just got back from seeing Studio Ghibli‘s latest (last?) feature-length film, 『思い出のマーニー』 (“Omoide no Maanii”), which is based on the 1981 novel “When Marnie Was There” by Joan G. Robinson. i kind of went and saw it on a whim after seeing the trailer, which sparked my interest.
i’m sure getting a new hat doesn’t seem like much to celebrate, but when you have locs (ie. when most hats don’t fit because your hair is too bulky) and you’re as picky as me (ie. you don’t like how 95% of hats look on you anyway), getting a new hat is big news!
so lately i’ve been thinking about therapy. part of me thinks that it might be a good idea. another part of me is convinced that it’s a pointless waste of money when i need to be saving money, plus i don’t /need/ therapy anyway, so why bother? i can’t seem to come to any decision. meh.
i’m all over the place in this video. i rant about my personal experiences with the policing that takes place within the black community, concepts of “blackness” (and in turn, “whitewashing”) in the black community, being a black asexual, fears of transitioning as a black non-binary person, being black abroad and intersectionality, to varying degrees. i’m sure i’ll get ill feelings directed at me for some of the feelings and views expressed in this video, but whatever. my feelings and experiences are what they are and they needed to be (and deserve to be) expressed. that said, got your own personal experiences with race/ethnicity and sexuality/gender that you’d like to share? i’d love to hear about them. 🙂 sigh! this is why i don’t generally talk about this kind of stuff. “too much feels”…

the desire to legally change my name to Vesper is steadily growing….. but the more i think about the actual process, the more i curse being an expat. ;( being an expat makes so many things dually difficult.
GENDER DYSPHORIA ISN’T BLACK & WHITE. NOTHING is black & white and i really wish people would stop acting as if body dysphoria is the black and social dysphoria the white of gender dysphoria. IT’S FAR MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT. and that’s before you even consider that even internal/body dysphoria is inevitably connected to society, which i didn’t talk about at all in this video. anyway, i feel like more people need to acknowledge this fact, advice/resource blogs and websites especially. …i can’t even remember what it was that set me off on this rant. it was triggered earlier this week, but it wasn’t until today that i had time to get in front of a camera zzz…

does anyone else do this and it really piss you off that you do? talk in a ridiculously high voice and use wordage you’d otherwise NEVER use because you’re: talking to an animal talking to a young child/baby working a customer service job goddamn society conditioning me to do crap i detest, making it so hard for me to NOT automatically do it. i nearly deleted this video as soon as i saw it because my voice etc really disgusts me, but then i couldn’t delete Yuki’s cuteness. ;(
