goodbye 2013 and good riddance! in this video i talk about my goals for 2014, including coping with depression/dysphoria through cycling, getting connected with Japan’s LGBTQIA community and saving money for a hysterectomy. i also talk about my (lack of) transitioning and my new name! a huge THANK YOU! to all of my followers and subscribers! there’s undoubtedly lots more videos to come in 2014. 🙂
while randomly watching videos on YouTube i came across the vlog of a Japanese FtX (their words, not mine) person. i was so happy that i immediately started typing a comment introducing myself, but when it came to saying that i’m neutrois i couldn’t figure out how to say it. see, Japanese kind of sucks…. there is no word to distinguish between SEX and GENDER– the both equate to 性 (sei). i dare say that the entire concept of gender vs sex is lacking in Japan, but that’s a topic for another time. i thought that maybe neutrois could be translated as 無性者 (museisha; literally translates to “person without sex/gender”) but apparently that’s used to mean asexual! wtffffff….. so then i thought that maybe i could say 中立性者 (chuuritsuseisha), which literally translates to “neutral person” but apparently 中立性 (chuuritsusei) is used in regards to having a neutral stance on any given thing and so wouldn’t really be used specifically for gender despite 性 (sei)…
sorry for being MIA for so long. in this video on blurb on and on about various random things that i have seen or experienced in Japan thus far. in short, work is going well and my piercings + attempts at gender neutral attire have all gone over fine thus far. more interesting videos to come in the future!
just a quick video before i go M.I.A. for a little while. thank you again for watching. 🙂
got my custom made shirt in the mail yesterday. 🙂 had to take these photos a million times as my hair was always covering something. ;( see also: this post and this post about the design of this shirt
in honor of Asexual Awareness Week (Oct. 20th – 26th, 2013) i decided to attempt to make a video to help raise awareness about asexuality. the FAQ includes: @00:56 – what is asexuality? @01:12 – isn’t that celibacy? @01:42 – maybe you should get your hormones checked? @02:38 – isn’t asexuality unnatural? @04:27 – so if you’re asexual you’re a virgin/never want sex? @05:49 – how can you know if you’ve never had sex?@06:57 – do asexuals masturbate? @07:46 – i have a low/high sex drive. could i still be asexual? @09:04 – do asexuals never fall in love? @09:51 – what are other types of attraction? @11:38 – what if someone rarely experiences sexual attraction or only experiences it under certain circumstances? @12:45 – where can i find out more? please note that the content of this video is just MY personal answer to various questions and i most…
…played around with a site and designed a shirt inspired by this. would love to wear this shirt to Pride events and such. ;( [/random] edit: updated the photo to the final version of the shirt….. which i ended up ordering. THIS IS WHY I’M ALWAYS POOR. ;(( it probably won’t arrive in time for Asexual Awareness Week… but whatever, free shipping! and i’m not limited to only one week a year raising asexual awareness. 🙂 edit edit: please see THIS POST to order your own (similar) shirt.
many people use the word “queer” to describe or label their identity in regards to their sexuality and/or their gender. it’s a word that references the heteronormativity within society and expresses the fact that one identifies as being outside of or beyond such normativity… but is the word queer strictly limited to that? i have a feeling that this topic may bring about very strong opinions in some people… please be gentle! i’m genuinely curious. …better late than never? ;(
choosing a new name is really hard for anyone, but it seems especially hard choosing a gender neutral name. for one, is any name ever truly gender neutral…? there’s so much that goes into gendering a name that i think it’s impossible to really say. either way, because i’m so picky i find myself with very few options to choose from…
…if you get motion sickness, you may not want to watch this video. ;( i’m really sorry for the poor quality! nothing has gone right for me today… lots is going on for me right now, so it’s time for a life update! i’ve got two new jobs and will be moving to Japan in November, so the next few months will be insane. please bare with me as videos become a bit less frequent and some changes happen with the channel.
