QAC 30 – Gender Expression / Presentation Blurb
…what began as a blurb turned into a rant. how predictable. in this video i blurb/rant about my own gender expression and (as always) how society pisses me off. i curse quite a bit in this video, so….

look what the mailman just gave me!
coping with dysphoria and being in the closet is tough for anyone, right? but as things are now, am i really coping at all or am i just setting myself up for disaster in the future? after all, going through life numb to your own feelings and thoughts can’t be a good thing… and on top of this, i’ve just signed a contract sentencing myself to 3 more years of dysphoria and life in the closet. i must be insane?
just got back from seeing Studio Ghibli‘s latest (last?) feature-length film, 『思い出のマーニー』 (“Omoide no Maanii”), which is based on the 1981 novel “When Marnie Was There” by Joan G. Robinson. i kind of went and saw it on a whim after seeing the trailer, which sparked my interest.
GENDER DYSPHORIA ISN’T BLACK & WHITE. NOTHING is black & white and i really wish people would stop acting as if body dysphoria is the black and social dysphoria the white of gender dysphoria. IT’S FAR MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT. and that’s before you even consider that even internal/body dysphoria is inevitably connected to society, which i didn’t talk about at all in this video. anyway, i feel like more people need to acknowledge this fact, advice/resource blogs and websites especially. …i can’t even remember what it was that set me off on this rant. it was triggered earlier this week, but it wasn’t until today that i had time to get in front of a camera zzz…
Nabeshirts (ナベシャツ) is a Japanese brand of chest binders that is of exceptional quality and comfort, backed by top-notch customer service. i cannot recommend them enough…! they are difficult to order for those who do not know Japanese, but for those who do and/or for those who live in Japan, i highly recommend them. for your convenience: —– TIME POINTS —– @00:00 – intro blurb @02:53 – Nabeshirts: a brief intro @04:01 – sizing dilemma (size S or size SS?) @06:37 – putting on a binder for the first time @07:33 – omg so tight @10:24 – exchanging sizes @13:19 – quasi-review: start! in the beginning there were but three of us, but by the end there were five. 🙂 three of us actually met in a meetup thread on AVEN where i instigated our meetup and sign making for #TRP2014. then while walking in the parade it just so happened that L, who was walking behind us, happened to be ace herself! after the parade i was lucky enough to catch up with SHYNAMITES, whose non-binary pride sign i’d passed during the parade. when i asked to take zir photo, ze told me that ze’s asexual too! D; ah, it was a great day… note: photos #1, #3 and #4 taken by editingatwork and used with permission. (see also: the #TRP2014 photo gallery)
#TRP2014 was awesome! met lots of awesome people and had an all around great time. 🙂 as seems to generally be the case at Prides, there seemed to be a huge under representation of everything but the L, the G and cross dressers, but what representation i did find made me extremely happy. above is a shot of the one non-rainbow flag that i saw (..ok, i did see a huge bear flag, but that doesn’t count) and i was lucky enough to meet and get a photo of a fellow non-binary ace! also, a couple of friends and i added to the diversity and inclusiveness of the event with our Asexual Pride sign, which we held with pride in the parade. a blurb about labels, their importance and why i use them. because i talk too damn much: @00:00 – update about my mom @00:52 – labels: more than just identity @05:22 – labels can suck @07:08 – why labels are important & why i use them i’m a little crazy in the beginning, but i swear i start making sense towards the end. ;(
long video is ridiculously long. sorry about that, but i had to vent somewhere. ====== NAVIGATION ===== @00:00 – and the story begins @04:46 – “i’m asexual.” @10:02 – “imma watch all your obviously private videos!” @14:06 – “don’t worry, everyone’s like that!” @17:05 – “omg stop saying that.” @22:00 – patience is golden @24:32 – her head didn’t exploded ====================== TL;DW: my mom found this channel and saw videos that i never wanted her to see and wasn’t ready for her to see. shit sucks. BUT my mom is doing her best with what she’s found out, which is good… even if her best is painful. anyway, patience patience….. and all that jazz. the cat’s out of the bag and is managing well enough thus far. hopefully time won’t make the cat regret being out of the bag…………… and i forgot to mention in the video that my mom…
