    #TRP2015 準備完了

    April 25, 2015 / 1 Comment

just about ready for Tokyo Rainbow Pride tomorrow! last year i wore my ace pride shirt, but this time around it’s time for some non-binary / Xジェンダー pride and visibility! thankfully the shirt i made arrived just in time. 🙂 i’ll still be hanging out with my ace friends helping with asexual awareness & visibility, but my gender is just as important as my sexuality. in case you’re wondering, Xジェンダー / X-gender is the Japanese equivalent of genderqueer and/or non-binary in English.

    April 5, 2015 / No Comments

thanks to everyone who came to the Tokyo Ace Meetup! it was our 3rd(?) and most successful meetup yet, i think, and it was really great to meet you all (including those not photo’d above). 🙂 we’re now discussing walking in the Tokyo Pride parade (Sun, April 26th) again this year, so stay tuned for that! if you have an account on AVEN, join in on the discussion! i look forward to meeting you all (and more) again in the future. 🙂 *attempting to post this from a speeding train because i’m going to pass out as soon as i get home*

    one of those days.

    April 2, 2015 / No Comments

today was another one of those days. after showering i looked in the mirror. why did i do that?? i knew what i’d see and how it’d make me feel. then i spent 2.5 hours doing my hair, only to have to fight the urge to cut it once i was done. again. i love my hair and yet i don’t. no one would dare try to talk me out of cutting it once i told them how it’s so heavy that it gives me headaches when i wear it in a pony tail to keep it out of the way for a prolonged period of time, or how it hurts my neck while washing it because it becomes so heavy with water; how i go through so much product that is expensive to import and how it takes 10hrs to fully dry, which sucks all kinds of hell in…

    Tokyo Ace Meetup

    April 1, 2015 / No Comments

attn: ace, ace spectrum and otherwise awesome people in central Japan! event: hanami (cherry blossom viewing), tea/coffee and dinner date: Sunday, April 5th 2015 time: 11:45am ~ whenever (8pm maybe?) location: Tokyo; contact me for details note: for hanami, please BYO everything! i’d been putting off announcing this for forever while people got organized, but now it’s gotten late and people still aren’t organized so whatever. a meetup started being organized months ago on AVEN for April 5th, but upon finding out about Stonewall Japan (LGBT for foreigners) and a local Tokyo LGBT group’s hanami party on the same day, we’ve decided to join in on their fun for part of the day. because different people are available at different times, my proposed (rough) itinerary is: 11:45 – meetup @undisclosed station then join up with the Stonewall Japan/Tokyo LGBT group for hanami 14:30 – meetup @undisclosed cafe for chichat over drinks and more…

spotted: LGBT 101 on Japanese TV

    February 21, 2015 / 1 Comment

there i was, doing stuff on my computer completely ignoring my tv when i look up to some celeb guessing at what LGBT stands for, saying stupid shit like B stands for ばあちゃん/grannies and T stands for 父ちゃん/daddies to be funny. i only got my phone out in time to take photos during the 1 minute that was spent talking about the subject seriously in which the guy “educating” the panel of celebs talked about how approximately 5% of people in Japan are LGBT, about bullying in schools, about coming out and about how to respond if someone comes out to you. seriously 日テレ. it’s great that you spent 1 minute educating people, but you also spent 1 minute making light of the subject. not good enough.

QAC 33 – (Not) “Transitioning” As Non-Binary in Japan

    December 30, 2014 / No Comments

apologies for this video being incredibly long– there was lots to address and i still didn’t cover everything! in this video i talk about my current intentions re: social and medical/physical “transitioning”, why i personally don’t care for the term “transition”, why i won’t be doing anything while in Japan, why “transitioning” as a non-binary person is different from “transitioning” as a binary person and lots more. please bear in mind that this really isn’t meant as an educational video, but maybe it’ll be informative nonetheless…? =================== TIME POINT INDEX =================== @00:00 happy holidays! @00:20 why i don’t look forward to 2015 @02:22 why i don’t care for the term “transition” @04:48 TMI & trigger warnings –SOCIAL TRANSITION– @05:20 what is social transition? @06:36 social “transitioning” as non-binary @07:03 name change abroad, name dysphoria @09:01 coming out in Japan @11:13 gender marker change + bathrooms in Japan @12:39 voice training,…

QAC 29 – (Not) Coping + 3 More Years in Japan

    August 24, 2014 / No Comments

coping with dysphoria and being in the closet is tough for anyone, right? but as things are now, am i really coping at all or am i just setting myself up for disaster in the future? after all, going through life numb to your own feelings and thoughts can’t be a good thing… and on top of this, i’ve just signed a contract sentencing myself to 3 more years of dysphoria and life in the closet. i must be insane?

Studio Ghibli’s 『思い出のマーニー』 // “When Marnie Was There”

    August 11, 2014 / No Comments

just got back from seeing Studio Ghibli‘s latest (last?) feature-length film, 『思い出のマーニー』 (“Omoide no Maanii”), which is based on the 1981 novel “When Marnie Was There” by Joan G. Robinson. i kind of went and saw it on a whim after seeing the trailer, which sparked my interest.
