since returning to the US from Japan back in March, i haven't been on social media, YouTube, or this blog as much as i'd have liked. the international move itself aside, i've had my hands full juggling emotional / compassion fatigue...
This is brief rundown of why YouTube/Google is the Pink Capitalist Piece of Shit that we all knew it was to begin with, highlight the hypocrisy and injustices dealt to YouTube's LGBTQIA Creators and viewership alike.
over 11 years after first leaving America for Japan, the time has come for me to finally try my hand at life back in the States…
Over the course of the past few years or so, I've had no choice but to come face-to-face with the fact that I'm not exactly the spitting image of mental health. That, in fact, I never have been, having struggled with persistent depression and social anxiety for years, whether I was conscious of that fact or not. As such, debilitating depression/anxiety isn't new to me. Simultaneous burnout and mental breakdown on account of blogging was, however.
so. self-imposed deadline after self-imposed deadline has passed now and this blog is still under construction, but i figure it’s at least decent enough to be public now. maybe. i will (probably) be deleting this post in the future, but in the meantime, if you happen to notice anything that is broken, off, ought to be tweeked or otherwise have feedback that you’d like to share with me, let me know in the comments maybe…?
it just occurred to me (while porting over more old posts) that Queer As Cat, the YouTube channel, has been a thing for 5 years now as of May 11th. hmm……
unimportant meta announcement, but: #VesperSpeaks* …so every now and again i sit in front of my laptop and bang away at it like Keyboard Cat, usually resulting in long-winded rants or random posts about feels… or something. Tumblr being Tumblr, those posts are subsequently lost to the abyss that is this blog soon after i post them, never to be seen again without digging through tags. this page is a non-exhaustive compilation of some of the things i’ve “written” with videos sprinkled in, organized in descending chronological order by category. #LGBTQIA in Japan* i often get asks asking me about things related to Japan or the Japanese language and from time to time i write spontaneous posts related to my experiences in Japan. this page is a compilation of some of those posts. disclaimer: in case this isn’t already clear, please note that everything on this page and on…
i will be (semi-)AFK from Tumblr Nov. 2nd (Wed) – Nov. 6th (Sun) JST as i’ll be visiting Tokyo and Shizuoka. while i’ll still be around ‘liking’ posts for future reference / reblogging, i won’t be posting or reblogging anything nor will i be responding to asks. if for whatever reason you need to contact me, email (queerascat at gmail dot com) or Tumblr’s messenger are your best bet. as always, i’ll still be active on Twitter, Instragram, Snapchat, and elsewhere, so if you want to check out what i’m up to or see random snaps of what i’m doing (such as the Instagram video above taken during my last trip to Tokyo), maybe follow me outside of Tumblr? either way, 行ってくる! see you in a few days.
anonymous said: Hi there! I hope you don’t think I’m attacking you or anything, I just wanted to ask about your tags in your last post (the one with the asexual K-drama character): What did you mean by #although this is about #an korean ace #rather than an ace POC #also relevant? ( re: this post ) the #although this is about #a korean ace#rather than an ace POC #also relevant tags were there to preface the tags that followed them, which were #asian american #APOC #ace POC#asexual POC. that is to say that the character portrayed in the post is not a POC. please refer to this post where i rant about why labeling him as a POC would be inappropriate. as such, my #asian american #APOC #ace POC#asexual POC tags were not meant to be descriptive of the character being portrayed because they aren’t. i included those tags because they are, however, #also…
